Mumbai. A place of hopes, ambitions and dreams. For the average teenager, it’s where everyone wants to be. In the past 4 months I’ve spent here, it’s been crazy. Not that I’ve had a lot of free time here, college’s kind of hectic. But still, the city’s amazing. The home of Bollywood. Celebrities pop up at random places.
And at the moment of contact, they do not know if the hand that is reaching for theirs belongs to a Hindu or Muslim or Christian or Brahmin or untouchable or whether you were born in this city or arrived only this morning or whether you live in Malabar Hill or New York or Jogeshwari; whether you’re from Bombay or Mumbai or New York. All they know is that you’re trying to get to the city of gold, and that’s enough. Come on board, they say. We’ll adjust.
This diverse city has already given me some memories which I can never forget. The city is a blend. From the imperial Fort area of South Bombay, to Haji Ali, from The Gateway of India to Rajeev Gandhi National Park, from Gorai creek to Girgaum Chowpatty, from Navi Mumbai to Thane. From Marine Drive to Powai Lake. Every place is its own.
Though, some old timers still say Mumbai is not what it used to be, it’s yours to discover.
I’m trying to show here the diversity of the city by it’s architecture. This picture here – I took it while roaming the Fort area on foot. Somewhere on the way to the Gateway of India. And as I looked upon this scene, I wondered how this city might’ve looked in the British times. And look at it now. The city of high rises. And yet, you see old built buildings here and there. (More photography showoff posts later 😉 )
As the picture above shows you, here’s another example of the city’s contrast:
Now that’s a lot of praise. And soon enough I’ll be cursing it for some reasons too. ( Can’t think of any now, but I’m sure there’ll be. xD ) But I think I should be signing off for now. So right now all I can say is, Mumbai’s amazing if you have the eye. Or someone to guide you. 😛
( Please do tell me if you can help me in making my posts better. 🙂 )
